Suta Goswami (narrating the admonitory counsel within the episode)
It frames Linga-bhakti as inseparable from dharma: worship becomes effective when the devotee preserves righteous conduct, which purifies the paśu and loosens pāśa (bondage).
By implying Pati as the stabilizing Lord of order, it aligns Shiva-tattva with the upholding of dharma—Shiva as the inner governor who supports rightness and liberation.
A foundational Pāśupata principle: ethical discipline (dharma-anupālana) as the prerequisite for mantra, pūjā, and yogic steadiness leading toward release from pāśa.
