Wenn ein Mensch schläft, fließt im Mund fortwährend Speichel. Darum soll man keine Handlung—besonders keine rituelle Pflicht—beginnen, ohne zuvor ein reinigendes Bad genommen zu haben.

FAQs

Indirectly: it distinguishes the pure Self from bodily conditions by prescribing purification before action, implying that dharmic practice begins with mastery and cleansing of the embodied state.

It highlights preparatory discipline (śauca) as a foundation for higher practice—purifying the body through snāna before karma and, by extension, before mantra-japa, pūjā, or yogic observances emphasized in the Kurma tradition.

Through shared dharma: the same purity discipline supports both Vaiṣṇava and Śaiva worship, reflecting the Kurma Purana’s synthesis where proper śauca undergirds devotion and yoga across both traditions.
