Karma-yoga Discipline for the Twice-born: Upanayana, Upavīta Conduct, Guru-veneration, and Alms-regimen

आयुष्णान् भव सौम्येति वाच्यो विप्रो ऽभिवादने / अकारश्चास्य नाम्नो ऽन्ते वाच्यः पूर्वाक्षरः प्लुतः

āyuṣṇān bhava saumyeti vācyo vipro 'bhivādane / akāraścāsya nāmno 'nte vācyaḥ pūrvākṣaraḥ plutaḥ

Beim rituellen Gruß (abhivādana) soll ein Brāhmaṇa mit den Worten angeredet werden: „Sei langlebig, o Sanftmütiger.“ Ferner ist beim Aussprechen seines Namens am Ende ein „a“ anzufügen, und die vorhergehende Silbe ist im gedehnten Pluta-Ton zu sprechen.
