Kurma Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 65

Nine Creations (Sarga), Guṇa-Streams of Beings, and Brahmā’s Progeny in Cyclic Time

आर्षाणि चैव नामानि याश्च वेदेषु दृष्टयः / शर्वर्यन्ते प्रसूतानां तान्येवैभ्यो ददात्यजः

ārṣāṇi caiva nāmāni yāśca vedeṣu dṛṣṭayaḥ / śarvaryante prasūtānāṃ tānyevaibhyo dadātyajaḥ

Und die von den ṛṣi geheiligten Namen—die auch in den Veden geschaut werden—verleiht der Ungeborene Herr (Ajā) den Neugeborenen zur rechten Zeit nach der Geburt, eben diese Namen.
