FAQs

Indirectly: it emphasizes purification (pāpa-kṣaya) through śravaṇa and pāṭha, preparing the mind for higher knowledge of the Self taught elsewhere in the Kurma Purana.

The practice highlighted is śravaṇa (reverent hearing) and pāṭha (recitation), classical preparatory disciplines that purify the practitioner and support later yogic contemplation and devotion described in the text.

This specific verse does not name Śiva or Viṣṇu; it reflects the Purana’s integrative ethos by presenting scriptural hearing/recitation as a universal purifier leading toward divine fellowship (here expressed as joy with Brahmā).
