FAQs

Indirectly: it contrasts dharmic order (devas and rishis safeguarding yajña) with ego-driven desire (“I choose this boon”), implying that self-centered will disrupts sacred order, whereas alignment with dharma supports inner clarity conducive to Atman-realization.

No explicit yogic technique is taught in this verse; however, it underscores the Kurma Purana’s broader discipline that steadiness in dharma—protecting sacred duty and restraining destructive impulses—is foundational to higher Yoga (including Pashupata-oriented restraint and purification).

It does not name Shiva or Vishnu directly; yet, in the Kurma Purana’s Shaiva–Vaishnava synthesis, protecting yajña is a shared dharmic concern, reflecting the Purana’s non-sectarian emphasis on preserving cosmic order rather than factional divinity.
