Kardama Muni’s Penance, Viṣṇu’s Darśana, and the Arrangement of Devahūti’s Marriage
The Emperor Manu, as the great ruler of the world, could have engaged an agent to find a suitable husband for his daughter, but because he loved her just as a father should, he himself left his state on a golden chariot, with only his wife, to find her a suitable husband.
This verse shows Manu setting out with his wife and daughter as part of the unfolding arrangement for Devahūti’s destiny, moving with royal dignity and dharmic purpose.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī narrates this verse to King Parīkṣit while describing the events leading to Devahūti’s life with Kardama Muni.
It highlights responsible guardianship and purposeful movement in life—acting with care for family members while aligning one’s decisions with dharma and higher spiritual aims.
