Dadhīci’s Supreme Charity and the Opening of Indra’s War with Vṛtrāsura
तथाभियाचितो देवैर्ऋषिराथर्वणो महान् । मोदमान उवाचेदं प्रहसन्निव भारत ॥ २ ॥
tathābhiyācito devair ṛṣir ātharvaṇo mahān modamāna uvācedaṁ prahasann iva bhārata
O Bharata (Parīkṣit), gemäß der Weisung des Herrn traten die Halbgötter an den großen Weisen Dadhīci heran, den Sohn Atharvās. Er war überaus freigebig; als sie ihn baten, ihnen seinen Körper zu geben, stimmte er sogleich teilweise zu. Doch um von ihnen Unterweisung in Dharma zu hören, lächelte er und sprach, gleichsam scherzend, wie folgt.
