Kṛṣṇa Leads Kālayavana to Mucukunda; The Yavana Is Burned; Mucukunda’s Prayers and Boon of Bhakti
When the Supreme Lord descends to this world, He certainly becomes nara-puṅgava, the most eminent member of human society. Of course, the Lord is not actually a human being, and Mucukunda’s questions will lead to a clarification of this point. Thus the term śuśrūṣatām, “to us, who are sincerely eager to hear,” indicates that Mucukunda is inquiring in a noble way for his own and others’ benefit.
It shows a devotee-like approach: eager, respectful hearing and a request for truthful speech—asking about the Lord’s birth, deeds, and lineage only if He wishes.
After beholding Kṛṣṇa’s divine presence, Mucukunda humbly sought to understand who He was, requesting that Kṛṣṇa reveal His identity in whatever way pleased Him.
Cultivate śuśrūṣā—sincere listening—and ask spiritual questions with humility, without demanding answers, allowing the teacher (and the Lord) to reveal truth in due course.
