Kṛṣṇa Leads Kālayavana to Mucukunda; The Yavana Is Burned; Mucukunda’s Prayers and Boon of Bhakti
वरं वृणीष्व भद्रं ते ऋते कैवल्यमद्य न: । एक एवेश्वरस्तस्य भगवान् विष्णुरव्यय: ॥ २० ॥
varaṁ vṛṇīṣva bhadraṁ te ṛte kaivalyam adya naḥ eka eveśvaras tasya bhagavān viṣṇur avyayaḥ
Alles Heil dir! Wähle nun von uns eine Gabe—außer Kaivalya (Befreiung), denn nur der unfehlbare, unvergängliche Bhagavān Viṣṇu kann sie gewähren.
This verse shows a devotee’s stance: kaivalya is not the desired goal; devotion is centered on the imperishable Supreme Person, Bhagavān Viṣṇu.
After realizing the Lord’s supreme identity, Mucukunda expresses pure devotion—seeking blessings while explicitly rejecting impersonal liberation, affirming Viṣṇu as the one true Lord.
Prioritize loving service and relationship with God over ego-driven “self-perfection”; cultivate devotion through prayer, remembrance, and selfless duty rather than chasing only personal escape or detachment.
