Adhivāsana-vidhi
Procedure for Preliminary Consecration in Vāstu–Pratiṣṭhā / Īśāna-kalpa
Lord Agni (in discourse to Sage Vasiṣṭha, typical Agni Purana frame)
Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Puja-vidhi","secondary_vidya":"Tantra","practical_application":"Perform jīva-nyāsa (life-infusing installation) on the liṅga for siddhi of intended aims; then proceed to nyāsa on pedestal components (piṇḍikā etc.) as part of complete liṅga-arcana.","sutra_style":true}

Concept: Ritual ‘vivification’ as a means to align devotee intention (saṅkalpa) with the deity-presence established in the icon.
Application: Treat liṅga and its base as a complete sacred body; perform nyāsa systematically on each component to avoid ‘partial worship’ and to stabilize attention and saṅkalpa.
Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi (Linga-puja and Nyasa-vidhi)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A priest performs nyāsa gestures on the liṅga, then touches/marks the piṇḍikā and surrounding parts in sequence, indicating a complete consecration of the icon-body.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, priest with mudrās before liṅga and piṇḍikā, small golden marks on each part showing nyāsa points, oil lamps, warm earthy palette, calm sanctum mood","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore, richly decorated liṅga and pedestal, priest performing nyāsa with gold-highlighted touchpoints, ornate arch, heavy gold work emphasizing ‘sarvārtha-sādhaka’ auspiciousness","mysore_prompt":"Mysore style instructional panel, numbered nyāsa points on liṅga and piṇḍikā, clear hand gestures, minimal background, readable ritual sequencing","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, detailed ritual scene with attendants, priest touching successive parts of the pedestal, fine architectural detailing, subtle gold for sacred touchpoints"}

Related Themes: Agni Purana 96 (preceding dhyāna and installation; following pedestal-nyāsa details)
It teaches jīva-nyāsa on the Śiva-liṅga as a key consecratory act, then signals the next step: performing nyāsa on the piṇḍikā (base) and associated components.
By preserving a precise, step-by-step liturgical technology (nyāsa sequences applied to specific ritual substrates like the liṅga and its pedestal), it documents specialized temple/household worship procedures alongside the Purana’s broader subjects.
The verse frames jīva-nyāsa as a consecration that ‘activates’ worship, making the rite result-bearing (sarvārtha-sādhaka) by aligning the deity’s presence with the worshipper’s mantra practice.
