Procedure for Preliminary Consecration in Vāstu–Pratiṣṭhā / Īśāna-kalpa

Alamkara Type: Upama
Concept: Niṣkala-vyāpakatva of Śiva and the distinction between mantra-consciousness and mind’s modifications.
Application: During japa, notice mantra as self-luminous sound-awareness; when vṛttis arise, do not merge mantra into thought—recenter at dvādaśānta and expand contemplation into all-pervading Śiva.

Related Themes: Agni Purana 96 (dvādaśānta, nyāsa, dhyāna sequence)
It teaches a mantra-yoga procedure: distinguish mantra-awareness from ordinary mental activity, draw it through the dvādaśānta locus, and fix contemplation on niṣkala (formless) all-pervading Śiva.
Beyond myth and ritual, the Agni Purana preserves practical yogic-tantric inner techniques (mantra internalization, prāṇa-related loci like dvādaśānta, and non-dual Śiva contemplation), showing its wide coverage of sādhanā disciplines.
The practice aims at mantra-siddhi and purification of the mind by leading awareness toward blissful absorption, culminating in contemplation of the undivided Śiva—supporting liberation-oriented (mokṣa) transformation rather than merely external ritual merit.
