FAQs

It instructs that after performing mantra/rite purification for a specific mantra-sequence (from Brahmā through Viṣṇu), one must complete the ritual exactly as earlier prescribed—especially the fixed homa-oblation count and the corresponding japa and auxiliaries.

It exemplifies the Agni Purāṇa’s manual-like coverage of practical religious technology—standardizing purification (śuddhi), procedural continuity (pūrvavat), and measurable ritual outputs (homa-saṅkhyā, japa), like a compendium of applied ritual science.

The verse frames purity (viśuddhi) as the prerequisite for efficacy: correct purification followed by the exact homa and japa counts is presented as ensuring the rite’s sanctity and its intended spiritual merit (puṇya) and fruit (phala).
