Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Mantra","secondary_vidya":"Tantra","practical_application":"Nightly purification and protection: recite a Śaiva mantra, ingest pañcagavya and caru as consecrated purifiers, perform dental cleansing and ācamana, meditate on Śiva, then sleep on a ritually purified bed.","sutra_style":false}
Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Mantra","entry_title":"Śaiva śayana-vidhi: ‘Oṁ hili hili triśūlapāṇaye svāhā’ with pañcagavya, caru, dantadhāvana, ācamana, śiva-dhyāna","lookup_keywords":["hili hili","triśūlapāṇi","pañcagavya","caru","śayana-vidhi"],"quick_summary":"A bedtime observance combining mantra-japa, internal purification (pañcagavya/caru), basic hygiene (dantadhāvana, ācamana), and Śiva-meditation to make sleep itself a purifying, protected state."}
Concept: Daily life acts (eating, hygiene, sleep) can be integrated into mantra-sādhana so that ordinary transitions become sanctified.
Application: Create a consistent pre-sleep sādhana: mantra, cleansing, brief dhyāna; treat sleep as a guarded interval rather than negligence.
Khanda Section: Pūjā-vidhi / Śaiva-mantra-sādhana (Ritual purification and bedtime observance)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti

Related Themes: Agni Purana 83 (adhivāsana and purification sequence)
It gives a Śaiva mantra-invocation (“oṃ hili hili…svāhā”) and a practical śauca sequence: ingest pañcagavya and consecrated caru, perform dantadhāvana (tooth-cleaning), do ācamana, meditate on Śiva, and then retire to a purifying bed.
It combines mantra-prayoga (ritual formula), dravya-śuddhi (purificatory substances like pañcagavya), and daily discipline (ācamana, hygiene, and meditation), showing how the Agni Purāṇa catalogs both inner devotion and concrete ritual-health procedures.
The sequence frames sleep as a sanctified act: purification through pañcagavya, ritual sipping (ācamana), and Śiva-dhyāna are meant to reduce impurity, stabilize the mind, and accrue merit by ending the day in auspicious remembrance.
