Related Themes: Agni Purana 78 (Pūjā-vidhi: dik-vinyāsa and upacāra-krama); Agni Purana sections on pañcagavya-śuddhi and homa-dravya-vinyāsa (within Pūjā-vidhi corpus)
It teaches a precise puja-vidhi: arranging pañcagavya and a palāśa-based ritual packet around the ritual space, then placing flowers in the northeast (Īśāna) and rocanā (yellow pigment) in the southeast (Āgneya) as direction-specific ritual placements.
It preserves procedural, almost manual-like instructions—materials, spatial arrangement, and direction-based ritual logic—showing the Agni Purana’s coverage of practical liturgy alongside theology, making it a compendium of applied religious technology.
Pañcagavya is classically used for śuddhi (purification) and ritual fitness; placing auspicious substances by prescribed directions is intended to harmonize the rite with divine quarters (Īśāna/Āgneya), supporting purity, protection, and the successful fruition (siddhi) of the ritual act.
