Concept: Ritual efficacy depends on correct spatial ordering—maṇḍala (cosmic diagram) and kumbha (contained sacred waters) externalize inner order.
Application: Before snāna/abhiṣeka festivals, establish a clean, bounded ritual arena with correct placements to avoid doṣa (ritual fault).

Related Themes: Agni Purana 69 (snāna-vidhāna chapter opening); Agni Purana 68 (devayātrā-utsava conclusion)
It initiates the snāna-vidhāna (ritual bathing rules) and gives a core setup instruction: place consecration pots (kumbhas) on a maṇḍala within a maṇḍapa set before the temple—i.e., the standard spatial arrangement for snapanotsava.
It functions like a liturgical manual: the text shifts from narrative (festival account) to procedural temple-ritual engineering—mandapa/mandala layout and ritual vessels—showing the Purāṇa’s coverage of practical ritual technology alongside theology and stories.
Correct placement of kumbhas on the maṇḍala establishes ritual purity and order for the deity’s ceremonial bath, supporting auspiciousness (śubha), purification (śuddhi), and the merit (puṇya) traditionally associated with properly performed temple festivals.
