Nachdem man ācamana (rituelles Schlucken von Wasser zur Reinigung) vollzogen hat, soll man sich sodann mit Wasser reinigen, indem man sich abwischt oder besprengt, unter Rezitation der drei Verse, die mit «hiraṇyavarṇāḥ» beginnen, sowie auch des Mantras «śanno devī».
