अनेजदेकं मनसो जवीयो नैनद्देवा आप्नुवन्पूर्वमर्षत् । तद्धावतोऽन्यानत्येति तिष्ठत्तस्मिन्नपो मातरिश्वा दधाति ॥४॥

अनेजत् । एकम् । मनसः । जवीयः । न । एनत् । देवाः । आप्नुवन् । पूर्वम् । अर्षत् । तत् । धावतः । अन्यान् । अत्येति । तिष्ठत् । तस्मिन् । अपः । मातरिश्वा । दधाति ।

IAST Transliteration

anejada ekaṃ manaso javīyo nainad devā āpnuvan pūrvam arṣat | tad dhāvato'nyān atyeti tiṣṭhat tasminn apo mātariśvā dadhāti ||4||

Translation

সেই এক পরম তত্ত্ব অচল, তবু মন থেকেও দ্রুততর। দেবগণও তাকে ধরতে পারেনি, কারণ সে তাদের আগেই অগ্রসর। স্থির থেকেও সে ধাবমান সকলকে অতিক্রম করে; সেই তত্ত্বেই মাতরিশ্বা (বায়ু) জলসমূহ স্থাপন করে।

Academic Translation

The One, unmoving, is swifter than the mind; the gods did not reach It, for It went before. Standing still, It outstrips the others who run; in It Mātariśvan (the wind) places the waters.

• Brahman (transcendent-immanent Absolute) and its paradoxical nature beyond motion/rest
• Mahavakya: Supports the purport of ‘prajñānaṃ brahma’ (Aitareya) by indicating Brahman as prior to and surpassing mind and deities; also aligns with ‘tat tvam asi’ insofar as the ‘One’ is the innermost reality beyond mental reach.
