The One, unmoving, is swifter than the mind; the gods did not reach It, for It went before. Standing still, It outstrips the others who run; in It Mātariśvan (the wind) places the waters.

Brahman (transcendent-immanent Absolute) and its paradoxical nature beyond motion/restMahavakya: Supports the purport of ‘prajñānaṃ brahma’ (Aitareya) by indicating Brahman as prior to and surpassing mind and deities; also aligns with ‘tat tvam asi’ insofar as the ‘One’ is the innermost reality beyond mental reach.YajurŚukla (Vājasaneyī) Yajurveda; commonly transmitted with the Mādhyandina/Kāṇva recensions of the Vājasaneyī Saṃhitā ShakhaChandas: Prose (Upaniṣadic mantraic prose; not a fixed classical chandas)
