व्यासरूपं विभुः कृत्वा संहरेत्स युगे युगे । अष्टलक्षप्रमाणे तु द्वापरे द्वापरे सदा
vyāsarūpaṃ vibhuḥ kṛtvā saṃharetsa yuge yuge | aṣṭalakṣapramāṇe tu dvāpare dvāpare sadā
সর্বব্যাপী প্রভু যুগে যুগে ব্যাসরূপ ধারণ করে তাহা সংকলন ও বিন্যাস করেন। প্রত্যেক দ্বাপরযুগে তাহার পরিমাণ সর্বদা আট লক্ষ (শ্লোক/মাত্রা) নির্ধারিত হয়।
