बिभेत्यल्पश्रुताद्वेदो मामयं प्रतरिष्यति । इतिहासपुराणैश्च कृतोऽयं निश्चयः पुरा
bibhetyalpaśrutādvedo māmayaṃ pratariṣyati | itihāsapurāṇaiśca kṛto'yaṃ niścayaḥ purā
অল্পশ্রুত লোককে বেদ ভয় পায়—“এ ব্যক্তি আমাকে ভুল বুঝে অতিক্রম করবে।” তাই প্রাচীনকাল থেকেই ইতিহাস-পুরাণের দ্বারা এই সিদ্ধান্ত স্থির হয়েছে যে, তাদের আশ্রয়ে থেকেই বেদকে গ্রহণ করতে হয়।
