It emphasizes that Śiva-worship—especially mantra- and tantra-based practice—should be anchored in humility and right transmission, honoring the Ācārya as the conduit of Śiva’s grace (anugraha) rather than treating ritual as mere personal technique.
Linga-worship in the Vidyeśvara context is a disciplined, rule-governed approach to Saguna Śiva; the verse underscores that the materials and procedure are to be sanctified through the teacher’s oversight, preserving purity of method and devotion.
It points to guru-guided tantric observance: after completing the rite, one should respectfully offer the worship-implements to the Ācārya, along with continued japa of Śiva-mantra (such as the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as instructed.
