स्वचिह्नपूजनात्प्रीतश्चिह्नकार्यं न वीयते । चिह्नकार्यं तु जन्मादिजन्माद्यं विनिवर्तते
svacihnapūjanātprītaścihnakāryaṃ na vīyate | cihnakāryaṃ tu janmādijanmādyaṃ vinivartate

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: General doctrine of liṅga-worship efficacy: Śiva, pleased by worship of His cihna (emblem), makes its fruit inexhaustible and turns back beginningless rebirth—an anugraha-centered teaching applicable across all liṅga-sthalas.
Significance: Assures devotees that sincere emblem-worship yields enduring merit and, more importantly, cessation of saṃsāra through Śiva’s grace.
Role: liberating
Offering: dipa
It teaches that honoring Śiva’s sacred identifiers (cihna)—such as the Liṅga and associated Shaiva marks—generates an undiminishing spiritual potency that ultimately reverses saṁsāra by removing the roots of repeated birth.
The verse supports Saguna-upāsanā through Śiva’s tangible emblems: worship of the Liṅga and Shaiva signs is affirmed as a direct means to receive Śiva’s grace, producing lasting fruit and leading the devotee toward liberation.
Perform regular worship of Śiva’s emblematic forms—especially Liṅga-pūjā—while maintaining Shaiva observances (e.g., mantra-japa like the Pañcākṣarī and reverent use of Shaiva sacred marks) with steady devotion.
