Sthala Purana: Colophon concluding the chapter titled “Satī-viyoga” (Satī’s separation), marking a narrative transition in Satī-khaṇḍa rather than a specific shrine-origin account.
Significance: Textual śravaṇa/paṭhana of Śiva-Purāṇa sections is traditionally held to increase śraddhā and bhakti and to orient the listener toward Śiva’s anugraha through purāṇic upadeśa.
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: liberating
This is a colophon verse marking the completion of a chapter; spiritually, it signals closure and invites reflection on the Satī-viyoga theme—how devotion (bhakti) and divine order operate even amid separation, pointing the seeker toward vairāgya (detachment) and steadfast remembrance of Śiva.
Though not prescribing a ritual directly, it situates the reader within the Satī-khaṇḍa narrative where Śiva’s saguna līlā (personal divine play) is prominent; such narrative remembrance (śravaṇa–smaraṇa) is itself a bhakti practice supportive of Linga-worship and reverence for Śiva as Pati (the Lord).
As a chapter-ending colophon, it implies a pause for contemplation: recite the pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and mentally dedicate the reading (pāṭha-phala) to Śiva, reflecting on the lesson of separation and surrender rather than a specific bhasma/rudrākṣa injunction in this line.
