Harīśvara-liṅga Mahimā and the Origin-Context of Viṣṇu’s Sudarśana (हरिश्वरलिङ्गमहिमा तथा सुदर्शनप्राप्तिकथा)
कमलैस्सरसो जातैर्मानसाख्यान्मुनीश्वराः । बद्ध्वा चैवासनं तत्र न चचाल हरिस्स्वयम्
kamalaissaraso jātairmānasākhyānmunīśvarāḥ | baddhvā caivāsanaṃ tatra na cacāla harissvayam
হে মুনীশ্বরগণ! মানস নামক সরোবরজাত পদ্মফুল দিয়ে সে সেখানে আসন রচনা করল; আর হরি (বিষ্ণু) স্বয়ং সেই স্থান থেকে একটুও নড়লেন না, স্থির রইলেন।

It highlights niścala-bhāva—unwavering steadiness. Even a great deity like Viṣṇu demonstrates disciplined stillness and focused intent, a prerequisite for receiving Shiva’s grace and higher realization.
Preparing a pure seat and remaining steady reflects proper upāsanā for Saguna Shiva (including Linga worship): external purity (āsana, place) supports inner one-pointed devotion, which ripens into Shiva’s anugraha.
Establish a clean āsana and practice still meditation (dhyāna) without restlessness; this pairs naturally with japa of the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and, where traditional, Tripuṇḍra-bhasma and Rudrākṣa as aids to steadiness.
