Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Mantra: (Implied) mantras ending with “svāhā”; Praṇava “Oṃ”.
Role: nurturing
It teaches that Shiva-worship is supported by inner devotion and outer purity: mantra-japa (svāhā-ending formulas) is followed by sanctifying the body-mind through Praṇava-sipping and ācamana, preparing the practitioner to approach Pati (Shiva) with clarity and reverence.
In Saguna Shiva worship—especially Linga-pūjā—purificatory acts like ācamana and Praṇava-recitation are prescribed as part of the upacāras, aligning the worshipper’s speech and breath with sacred sound before offering substances and prayers to the Linga.
It prescribes japa of “svāhā”-ending mantras, then sipping milk/curd/ghee separately three times with “Oṃ,” followed by repeating ācamana twice—emphasizing mantra-based purification alongside ritual discipline.
