The Disruption of Madhuvana and Dadhimukha’s Complaint
केचित्पीत्वा प्रविध्यन्ति मधूनि मधुपिङ्गलाः।मधूच्छिष्टेन केचिच्च जग्मुरन्योन्यमुत्कटाः।।5.62.10।।
kecit pītvā pravidhyanti madhūni madhupiṅgalāḥ |
madhūcchiṣṭena kecic ca jagmur anyonyam utkaṭāḥ ||5.62.10||
কিছু মধুবর্ণ বানর মধু পান করে তা এদিক-ওদিক ছিটিয়ে দিতে লাগল; আর কিছু মধুচাকের টুকরো হাতে নিয়ে মত্ত হয়ে পরস্পরের মধ্যে উন্মত্তভাবে ঘুরে বেড়াল।
The honey-coloured monkeys drank honey. Some threw large chunks of honey combs after drinking and some went about intoxicated.
Dharma highlights dama (self-restraint): celebration without discipline turns into excess, which can lead to conflict and wrongdoing.
The vānara-s begin drinking honey in Madhuvana; their behavior becomes boisterous and disorderly.
