यतो भगीरथो राजा ततो गङ्गायशस्विनी।।।।जगाम सरितां श्रेष्ठा सर्वपापप्रणाशिनी।
yato bhagīratho rājā tato gaṅgā yaśasvinī |
jagāma saritāṃ śreṣṭhā sarva-pāpa-praṇāśinī ||
রাজা ভগীরথ যেদিকে যেতেন, যশস্বিনী গঙ্গাও ঠিক সেদিকেই অগ্রসর হতেন—নদীগণের শ্রেষ্ঠা, সর্বপাপবিনাশিনী।
