युधिछिर उवाच न चाहं कामये यक्ष तव पूर्वपरिग्रहम् । काम॑ नैतत् प्रशंसन्ति सन््तो हि पुरुषा: सदा
Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | na cāhaṁ kāmaye yakṣa tava pūrva-parigraham | kāmaṁ naitat praśaṁsanti santaḥ hi puruṣāḥ sadā | yathā-buddhi tava praśnān uttarāṇi dadāmi te | pṛccha māṁ tvaṁ mahā-bāho ||
যুধিষ্ঠির বললেন—“হে যক্ষ! যা তোমার পূর্ব অধিকারভুক্ত, তা আমি নিতে চাই না। সৎপুরুষেরা সর্বদা আত্মপ্রশংসাকে প্রশ্রয় দেন না। আমি আমার বুদ্ধি অনুযায়ী তোমার প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেব—যা জিজ্ঞাসা করতে চাও, জিজ্ঞাসা করো।”
