अर्जुनस्य वधे क्रूरां करोति सम तदा मतिम् । इधर कर्ण भी नरकासुरकी अन्तरात्मासे आविष्टचित्त होनेके कारण अर्जुनका वध करनेके लिये क्रूरतापूर्ण संकल्प करने लगा
arjunasya vadhe krūrāṁ karoti saṁ tadā matim |
বৈশম্পায়ন বললেন—তখন সে অর্জুন-বধের জন্য নির্মম ও নিষ্ঠুর সংকল্প করল। নরকাসুর-সম্বন্ধীয় প্রভাবে অন্তরে আচ্ছন্ন হয়ে কর্ণের চিত্ত বিহ্বল হল, আর সে অর্জুনকে হত্যা করতে ক্রূর প্রতিজ্ঞায় প্রবৃত্ত হল।
