Udyoga Parva Adhyaya 62 — Duryodhana’s Claim of Victory and Vidura’s Allegories on Discord and Risk
ahaṃ vaikartanaḥ karṇo bhrātā duḥśāsanaś ca me
The verse highlights how attachment to power and dependence on loyal allies can harden one’s stance against peace; ethical governance requires choosing dharma over factional strength.
In the lead-up to war, Duryodhana is asserting the strength of his side by naming key supporters—Karna and his brother Duḥśāsana—signaling confidence and unwillingness to yield.
