शिष्यवृत्तिक्रमेणैव विद्यामाप्रोति यः शुचि: । ब्रह्मचर्यव्रतस्यास्य प्रथम: पाद उच्यते
śiṣyavṛttikrameṇaiva vidyām āpnoti yaḥ śuciḥ | brahmacaryavratasya asya prathamaḥ pāda ucyate ||
যে শুচি-চিত্ত ব্যক্তি শিষ্যধর্মের ক্রমানুসারী সংযত আচরণ পালন করে বিদ্যা লাভ করে—এটিকেই এই ব্রহ্মচর্য-ব্রতের প্রথম পদ বলা হয়।
