शुचि: शीलान्विताचार: शुक्लवासा जितेन्द्रिय: । संस्कृत: सर्वशास्त्रज्ञ: श्रद्दधानोइनसूयक:
śuciḥ śīlānvita-ācāraḥ śukla-vāsā jitendriyaḥ | saṃskṛtaḥ sarva-śāstra-jñaḥ śraddadhāno 'n-asūyakaḥ ||
বৈশম্পায়ন বললেন— যে বাহিরে-ভিতরে পবিত্র, শীলবান ও সদাচারী; নির্মল শ্বেত বসনধারী; ইন্দ্রিয়সংযমী, সংস্কারসম্পন্ন, সকল শাস্ত্রের তত্ত্বজ্ঞ, শ্রদ্ধাবান এবং দোষদৃষ্টি-শূন্য— এমন বিদ্বানকে দান ও সম্মানে অনুগৃহীত করে পাঠক (বাচক) নিযুক্ত করা উচিত, যাতে ধর্মের মর্যাদা অটুট থাকে।
