Vasiṣṭha on Saṃsāra, Guṇas, and Misattributed Agency
Mahābhārata 12.292
स चाप्यग्न्याहितो विप्र: क्रिया यस्य न हीयते । श्रेयो हानाहिताग्नित्वमग्निहोत्रं न निष्क्रियम्
sa cāpy agnyāhito vipraḥ kriyā yasya na hīyate | śreyo hānāhitāgnitvam agnihotraṃ na niṣkriyam ||
আর সেই ব্রাহ্মণও, যে অগ্নি প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছে এবং যার নির্দিষ্ট ক্রিয়াকর্ম কখনও ক্ষয়প্রাপ্ত হয় না—আচার-শৃঙ্খলা ও যথার্থ ফলশক্তিহীন অগ্নিহোত্র পালনের চেয়ে অগ্নি না রাখাই শ্রেয়।
