Rājasūyābhiṣeka-darśana: Duryodhana’s Observation of the Consecration
pūrṇe śatasahasre tu viprāṇāṃ pariviṣyatām | sthāpitā tatra saṃjñābhūc chaṅkho dhmāyati nityaśaḥ ||
The verse highlights how large-scale charity and hospitality can become institutionalized and publicly signaled; ethically, it invites reflection on intention—whether giving is rooted in dharma and compassion or in display, competition, and pride.
Duryodhana describes an arrangement where feeding Brahmins is conducted on a massive scale, and a conch is blown as a daily signal once the full quota of one hundred thousand has been served.
