Adhyāya 31: Rājasūya-samāgama — The Gathering of Kings and the Ordering of Hospitality
तत्र वानरराजाभ्यां मैन्देन द्विविदेन च । युयुधे दिवसान् सप्त न च तौ विकृतिं गतौ,वहाँ वानरराज मैन्द और द्विविदके साथ उन्होंने सात दिनोंतक युद्ध किया; किंतु उन दोनोंका कुछ बिगाड़ न हो सका
tatra vānararājābhyāṃ maindena dvividena ca | yuyudhe divasān sapta na ca tau vikṛtiṃ gatau ||
সেখানে তিনি বানররাজ মৈন্দ ও দ্বিবিদের সঙ্গে সাত দিন যুদ্ধ করলেন; কিন্তু তাদের দুজনেরই কোনো ক্ষতি বা বিকার ঘটল না।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Power alone does not guarantee victory; some opponents cannot be easily harmed due to exceptional strength, training, and steadfastness. The verse highlights endurance and the practical limits of violence in achieving one’s aims.
The narrator states that a warrior fought for seven days against the two monkey-kings Mainda and Dvivida, but despite the prolonged combat, neither of the two suffered any damaging change or injury.
