Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the dharmic value of kinship-based loyalty and respectful affection: political power and regional rule are acknowledged, yet the emphasis falls on a relative who, despite being a sovereign in his own right, chooses steadfast goodwill and honor toward his kin.

Śrī Kṛṣṇa identifies a particular ruler—Purujit—describing his domain (from the western region to the southern limit of Bhārata) and clarifying his relationship as a maternal uncle. Kṛṣṇa underscores that Purujit, famed for valor and for strengthening the Kuntibhoja line, is personally well-disposed toward the addressed party, motivated by affection.
