Mahabharata 7.27.24 — Drona Parva, Adhyaya 27, Shloka 24
द्रोणपर्व — अध्याय २७: सुशर्माह्वानम्, अर्जुनस्य प्रतिनिवर्तनम्, भगदत्तेन गजप्रहारः
उस रणक्षेत्रमें बहुत-से हाथी अर्जुनके बाणोंसे मथित होकर सवारोंसहित प्राणशून्य होकर पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़े। उस समय उनके झूल चिथड़े-चिथड़े होकर दूर जा पड़े थे और उनके आभूषणोंके भी टुकड़े-टुकड़े हो गये थे ।।
sañjaya uvāca | ṛṣṭiprāsāsinakharāḥ samudgaraparaśvadhāḥ | vicchinnā bāhavaḥ petur nṝṇāṃ bhallaiḥ kirīṭinā ||
সঞ্জয় বললেন—সেই রণক্ষেত্রে বহু হাতি অর্জুনের শরাঘাতে মথিত হয়ে আরোহীসহ প্রাণশূন্য হয়ে ভূমিতে পড়ে গেল। তাদের ঝুল ছিন্নভিন্ন হয়ে দূরে উড়ে গেল, অলংকারও খণ্ড খণ্ড হয়ে গেল। মুকুটধারী অর্জুনের ভল্ল-নামক তীক্ষ্ণ বাণে ঋষ্টি, প্রাস, খড়্গ, নখর, মুদ্গর ও পরশু ধারণকারী বীরদের বাহু কেটে পড়ল।
