नुदन् समन्तात् समरे रविरुद्यन् यथा तमः । तेनाजौ प्रेषिता राजन् शरा: शतसहस्रश:
nudan samantāt samare ravir udyan yathā tamaḥ | tenājau preṣitā rājan śarāḥ śata-sahasraśaḥ | jighāṃsantaṃ yudhāṃ śreṣṭha tadā āsīt tumulaṃ mahat ||
সঞ্জয় বললেন—রাজন্, উদিত সূর্য যেমন অন্ধকার তাড়ায়, তেমনি তারা সমরক্ষেত্রে চারিদিক থেকে শত্রুসেনাকে ছত্রভঙ্গ করে অগ্রসর হচ্ছিল। তারপর, হে নৃপ, রণভূমিতে লক্ষ লক্ষ শর নিক্ষিপ্ত হল; আর যখন শ্রেষ্ঠ যোদ্ধারা শ্রেষ্ঠ বীর ভীষ্মকে বধের অভিপ্রায়ে আক্রমণ করল, তখনই যুদ্ধ মহা ও তুমুল হয়ে উঠল।
