शब्दायमाने संग्रामे पटहे कर्णदारिणि | युद्धयमानस्य संग्रामे कुर्वतः पौरुषं स्वकम्
sañjaya uvāca | śabdāyamāne saṅgrāme paṭahe karṇadāriṇi | yudhyamānasya saṅgrāme kurvataḥ pauruṣaṃ svakam | jighāṃsantaṃ yudhāṃ śreṣṭhaṃ tadā āsīt tumulaṃ mahat ||
সঞ্জয় বললেন—রাজন্! যখন রণক্ষেত্র শব্দে মুখরিত হয়ে উঠল এবং কর্ণবিদারী যুদ্ধ-ঢাক বাজতে লাগল, আর যোদ্ধারা প্রত্যেকে নিজের বীর্য প্রদর্শন করে লড়াই করছিল, তখন শ্রেষ্ঠ যোদ্ধাকে বধ করার অভিপ্রায়ে তারা ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ল। সেই মুহূর্তেই এক মহা ও তুমুল সংঘর্ষ উদ্ভূত হল।
