The verse underscores the grave moral and cosmic cost of war: mass violence is not merely a human event but a burden borne by the earth itself. It frames the coming conflict as vast and inevitable, warning that the pursuit of power by rulers leads to widespread suffering.
Vyāsa speaks in a prophetic tone, foretelling immense bloodshed—so great that the earth will ‘drink’ the blood of thousands of kings. By invoking mighty mountains like Kailāsa, Mandara, and Himavat, he amplifies the scale and inevitability of the impending devastation.
