Origin and Supremacy of Gold as Ritual Fee
ghṛtaṁ me hṛdaye nityaṁ ghṛtaṁ nābhyāṁ pratiṣṭhitam | ghṛtaṁ sarveṣu gātreṣu ghṛte me manasi sthitam ||
The verse teaches internalization of a sacred, life-sustaining substance (ghee, associated with the cow and yajña) as a constant presence in heart, body, and mind—using remembrance (japa) as a means of purification and ethical self-regulation.
Vasiṣṭha instructs a king on a daily recitation performed after morning and evening ācamana. The recitation invokes the sanctity of cows and their gifts, asserting ghee’s presence within oneself as part of a practice believed to cleanse the day’s moral faults.
