शुभे पात्रे ये गुणा गोप्रदाने तावान्‌ दोषो ब्राह्मणस्वापहारे । सर्वावस्थं ब्राह्मणस्वापहारो दाराश्नैषां दूरतो वर्जनीया:

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | śubhe pātre ye guṇā gopradāne tāvān doṣo brāhmaṇasvāpahāre | sarvāvasthaṃ brāhmaṇasvāpahāro dārāś ca eṣāṃ dūrato varjanīyāḥ ||

Translation

ভীষ্ম বললেন—যোগ্য পাত্রে গোধন দান করলে যে পরিমাণ পুণ্য হয়, ব্রাহ্মণের ধন হরণ করলে ততটাই পাপ হয়। অতএব কোনো অবস্থাতেই ব্রাহ্মণের সম্পদ কেড়ে নেওয়া উচিত নয়; আর ব্রাহ্মণদের স্ত্রীদের সঙ্গে অনুচিত সংসর্গ তো দূর থেকেই বর্জনীয়।
