Ānṛśaṃsya–Bhakti: Śukaḥ Śakreṇa Parīkṣitaḥ
Compassion and Devotion—The Parrot Tested by Indra
अस्मिन्नहं टद्रुमे जात: साधुभिश्न गुणैर्युत: । बालभावेन संगुप्त: शत्रुभिश्षल न धर्षित:
asminn ahaṃ tad-drume jātaḥ sādhubhiś ca guṇair yutaḥ | bāla-bhāvena saṃguptaḥ śatrubhiś ca na dharṣitaḥ ||
ভীষ্ম বললেন—এই বৃক্ষেই আমার জন্ম, এখানেই আমি সজ্জনদের প্রিয় গুণে গুণান্বিত হয়ে বড় হয়েছি। শিশুকে যেমন রক্ষক আগলে রাখে, তেমনি এ বৃক্ষ আমাকে রক্ষা করেছে; শত্রুরা আমাকে পরাভূত বা লাঞ্ছিত করতে পারেনি।
