यथा रक्षा कृता पूर्व विपुलेन गुरुस्त्रिया: । पुरुषसिंह! पूर्वकालमें मैंने यह सुना था कि प्राचीनकालमें महात्मा विपुलने अपनी गुरुपत्नीकी रक्षा की थी। कैसे की? यह मैं तुम्हें बता रहा हूँ
yathā rakṣā kṛtā pūrvaṁ vipulena gurustrīyāḥ | puruṣasiṁha! pūrvakāle me śrutaṁ yat prācīnakāle mahātmā vipulena svagurupatnyā rakṣā kṛtā | kathaṁ kṛtā? tad ahaṁ te vakṣyāmi |
ভীষ্ম বললেন—হে পুরুষসিংহ! আমি প্রাচীন কালের কথা শুনেছি—মহাত্মা বিপুল একদা তাঁর গুরুর পত্নীকে রক্ষা করেছিলেন। কীভাবে তিনি সেই রক্ষা করেছিলেন—এখন আমি তোমাকে বলছি।
