Vipulopākhyāna—Ruci-rakṣā and Śakra’s Māyā (विपुलोपाख्यानम्—रुचिरक्षणं शक्रमाया च)
अपीडयन् भूत्यवर्गमित्येवमनुशुश्रुम । पीडयन् भृत्यवर्ग हि आत्मानमपकर्षति
apīḍayan bhṛtyavargam ity evam anuśuśruma | pīḍayan bhṛtyavargaṁ hi ātmānam apakarṣati ||
আমরা এমনই শুনেছি—যাদের ভরণপোষণের ভার নিজের উপর, সেই আশ্রিতজনকে কষ্ট না দিয়ে দান করা উচিত। কারণ যে ব্যক্তি নিজের ভৃত্যবর্গ ও আশ্রিতদের পীড়িত করে দান করে, সে আসলে নিজেকেই অধঃপাতে টানে।
