शम्बर उवाच नासूयामि यदा वित्रान्‌ ब्राह्ममेव च मे मतम्‌ । शास्त्राणि वदतो विप्रान्‌ सम्मन्यामि यथासुखम्‌

Transliteration

śambara uvāca | nāsūyāmi yadā viprān brāhmam eva ca me matam | śāstrāṇi vadato viprān samman yāmi yathāsukham |

Translation

শম্বর বলল—আমি ব্রাহ্মণদের প্রতি কখনও দোষারোপ বা বিদ্বেষ পোষণ করি না। যা ব্রাহ্ম—অর্থাৎ শাস্ত্রসম্মত ও সদাচার—তাই আমার মত। যারা শাস্ত্র ব্যাখ্যা করেন সেই বিপ্রদের আমি সম্মান করি এবং সাধ্য অনুযায়ী তাদের সুখ-সহায়তা করি।
