पात्रलक्षण-परिक्षा (Pātra-Lakṣaṇa Parīkṣā) — Criteria for a Worthy Recipient
ब्राह्मणं जातिसम्पन्नं धर्मज्ञं संशितं शुचिम् । अपरेषां परेषां च परेभ्यश्रैव येडपरे
brāhmaṇaṁ jātisampannaṁ dharmajñaṁ saṁśitaṁ śucim | apareṣāṁ pareṣāṁ ca parebhyaś caiva ye ’pare ||
বায়ু বললেন—উত্তম বংশে জন্মানো, ধর্মজ্ঞ, সংযমী ও পবিত্র ব্রাহ্মণের (জন্ম ও উপস্থিতি) কামনা করাও উচিত। ছোট-বড় সকলের মধ্যে, এমনকি যারা উচ্চতর তাদের মধ্যেও, ব্রাহ্মণদেরই শ্রেষ্ঠ গণ্য করা হয়। এমন ব্রাহ্মণ যাকে প্রশংসা করেন সে মানুষ উন্নতি লাভ করে; আর যে ব্রাহ্মণদের নিন্দা করে সে শীঘ্রই পরাভব পায়।
