पात्रलक्षण-परिक्षा (Pātra-Lakṣaṇa Parīkṣā) — Criteria for a Worthy Recipient
आगतानागते चोभे ब्राह्मणो द्विपदं वर: । ब्राह्मणो भरतश्रेष्ठ स्वरधर्म चैव वेद यः:
āgatānāgate cobhe brāhmaṇo dvipadaṃ varaḥ | brāhmaṇo bharataśreṣṭha svadharmaṃ caiva veda yaḥ ||
ভীষ্ম বললেন—ব্রাহ্মণ দ্বিপদদের মধ্যে শ্রেষ্ঠ, কারণ তিনি অতীত ও অনাগত—উভয়ই জানেন। হে ভরতশ্রেষ্ঠ, যে ব্যক্তি নিজের স্বধর্ম যথার্থ জেনে তদনুযায়ী আচরণ করে, সেই-ই প্রকৃত ব্রাহ্মণ।
