The verse teaches that disciplined austerity—fasting combined with sustained ritual bathing in sacred rivers—functions as a means of inner and outer purification, making one ‘like a sage’ in cleanliness and restraint.
Ajaḍriya is describing a specific tīrtha-practice: for one week, a person should fast and repeatedly immerse in the rivers Candrabhāgā and Vitastā; the stated result is the attainment of sage-like purity.
