यदा धर्मों ग्लाति वंशे सुराणां तदा कृष्णो जायते मानुषेषु । धर्मे स्थित्वा स तु वै भावितात्मा परांक्ष लोकानपरांश्ष पाति
yadā dharmo glāti vaṁśe surāṇāṁ tadā kṛṣṇo jāyate mānuṣeṣu | dharme sthitvā sa tu vai bhāvitātmā parāṁś ca lokān aparāṁś ca pāti ||
যখন দেববংশসমূহে ধর্মের ক্ষয় হতে থাকে, তখন শ্রীকৃষ্ণ মানবলোকে জন্ম গ্রহণ করেন। ধর্মে সুপ্রতিষ্ঠিত, শুদ্ধ ও সাধিত অন্তঃকরণে তিনি নিজেই ধর্ম আচরণ করে তাকে পুনঃপ্রতিষ্ঠা করেন এবং ঊর্ধ্ব ও অধঃ—উভয় লোককে রক্ষা করেন।
